Our Story
Supported Practice was started by Heather Kramer Almquist, a therapist with over 15 years of private practice experience and a 20-year career in Human Resources and Business Administration. After hearing plenty of virtual-assistant horror stories from other therapists and witnessing the major need for a better way for skilled therapists to run their businesses without burning out, Supported Practice was born.

As counselors, we know this to be true and witness it daily in therapy sessions. It is also true that if we do not maintain that real relationship with our clients with each touchpoint they have with our practice, we run the risk of losing that client.
In our many years of experience, we have learned how to assess and respond to leads in ways that establish a therapeutic relationship with a counselor even before they meet. We know how essential an administrative professional is to maintain the bond between a client and a counselor—or between a client and a practice. Your practice.
How It Works

We Recruit Graduate Students
We recruit graduate students and early-career mental health professionals to provide genuinely caring and informed support for both you and your clients.
Administrative Experience
We are skilled and comfortable with the business aspects of running a practice and provide tracking metrics to help you make important decisions.
Live Support
To provide personal care, all calls are answered live on our premises by our team members. We provide quick responses to all emails and voicemails, too, within four hours or less during operating hours.
